Free at Last

What a night. I know it's been awhile but I didn't have anything funny or interesting to post, until tonight.

We had Spock and Max on their leashes out on the porch. I had the hand ends hooked on the trellis Christmas and Spock were playing when I guess Christmas decided that Spock should not be tied up. I am sure Rebecca would be proud. He started chewing on Spock's leash. I had to get it on tape so I went in and grabbed the camera. I did get some of it on tape. He literally chewed through leash to free Spock. Spock didn't go anywhere, I don't think he even realized it. lol it was so funny.

Christmas was full of himself tonight and ready to play. He like to bite Max and Spock on the ears to get them to play with him. They weren't nearly as playful as he was so I got one of the tennis balls and off we went. What a workout that dog can give. He would go get the ball and come my way dodge me and then stop when I would get close he would run off again. Once I would get it and we do it all again. I don't know who was more wore out when we were done, he or I.  Poor Max and Spock just don't like to chase the ball when they have to be tied up. Maybe one day we can finish out the fence so they can all run and play together.

On a separate note Rebecca I mentioned above her organization that is trying to get dogs off chains, they are partnering with Music City Pit Brigade to help repair a fence so Big Head a gorgeous dog can run free and play in his yard instead of being tied up. You can help them out if you like, they are taking volunteers to help with the work on the fence and soon will be taking donations. To find this information just scroll down Rebecca's Facebook page.

Ok I will quit plugging groups now. Have a great night. Below are a video of the breakout and the boys playing. Warning I say a bad word in the escape video. Also a pic of the leash bit in two.

Christmas in my house

Well, I have been home all day...dang ears. However, since I was home I decided to make the best of it. I finally got my donate button working so if anyone wants to help out with my little furry friends they can donate below. It defaults to $5.00 but you can do as little as .50 and up to as much as you want. I would love it if I could get enough to finish out my fence in the back and enough to get Christmas neutered.

My lil foster guys are doing well. Max woofed down his food to quick this morning and made himself sick, but otherwise they have taken over the house. Max steals Gary's blankets and lays on em every evening and Spock, aka lil man, has to snuggle up in the recliner every evening.

While I was fixing dinner Christmas stopped by, yes he is back out on the prowl around the 'hood again. He was only chained up for about a day and a half. Alicia and I teamed up and thanks to her genius we got Christmas in the house. It went much better then I could have planned. I don't think he's ever been in a house though. He was very timid and not sure about going in any of the rooms. He needs a bath but I didn't want to push it. So I finished fixing our dinner and made the boys their dinner, divided it up, and fed all the dogs. It went very well, if Christmas was more at home inside, housebroke, and didn't bark at the other dogs I would definitely keep him inside.

Well, hopefully my ears feel better soon and hopefully we can end up with Christmas as a fulltime dog. Feel free to donate.

Christmas MIA

Haven't seen Christmas since Saturday. I wasn't overly worried cause there have been times when he hasn't been around for about a week. However, the neighbor just told me animal control was in the neighborhood and they were over at Christmas's home and put something on the door. So I don't know if they got him, or if they got a fine or a warning for him running around loose and now have him tied up or in the house.

I am hoping they are taking care of him and he didn't get picked up by AC. If anyone happens to read this has any connections with the AC people in the South Nashville area Christmas is a Black dog, looks to be a Newfound/Chow/Black Lab mix, he's really sweet and I would be more than happy to give him a home. I already feed him and brush him more than half the time. If you look at past post you will see pics of him.

Till later...

Weekend over already?

The weekends are too short. Yesterday I made all the dogs some eggs to go with their dog food they seemed to enjoy it. It isn't something I would do everyday but I felt like spoiling them a little. Not my most thought out idea, the rest of the day was full of smelly dogs...lol.

I also got some new toys for the boys. One Spock was even excited about...he uses it as a pillow. I bought two others that have already been thrown out because Max has eaten them to pieces. One was a cheap cloth toy, so no harm no foul the other was a little more pricey and I am not impressed. First the cheap bone shaped cloth squeaky toy...
Next is the Sprong, I am not impressed and emailed them to let them know. This is sold as a chew toy for dogs. Within 2 hours Max was able to do what you see to it. When it was wet and all chewed up it left blue marks on one of my chairs.

Yesterday we took the dogs out and put them on their leads while I planted some fruits and veggies in my little garden. Excited to be able to have strawberries and tomatoes for sure. Now if I can keep the dogs from using the garden as their bathroom. HA!

Today was more of a chill day. Max was hoot so I shot some video of him and posted them below. I also picked up some more toys, none cloth, and Spock even has a lil one that he liked. He was guarding it and wouldn't let us touch it. Pics below of today's activities.

What? I didn't chew it up...

Spock sleepin on Gary, holding his face. Ha!

Me and Spock, looks like he is smilin.

Spock with his new toy, guarding it from Alicia.

Max on Film

Max is too freakin cute and funny not to share with you all. I got him on video today playing by himself playing fetch, and talkin back. Check em out.

Spoiled? Nah, just loved.

The boys are bein lazy tonight...of course that isn't really different from any other night.

Max took over the couch last night and since we didn't tell him no he has decided that is his spot to sleep. Tonight he even had his head on the pillow, too freakin cute so I had to take a pic. He never even moved. If it wasn't for the snoring I would have had to make sure he was alive over there.

Spock is laying next to me mostly on the arm of the chair with his head on the arm of the love seat. Silly dog, one piece of furniture isn't enough.

Gonna try some training this weekend and see if I can't get them accustom to the clicker and see how that works with some basics and then we will go from there. I think it would be cool to do Agility courses but I think I need to be in better shape for that...hahaha.

We just wanted to share the pics of my sleepin dogs so I thought I would stop by post em and say a little something.

Adoption Fees

I was just thinking this morning...

It is too bad more rescue places for pets couldn't get grants or better donations. I say this because the majority rely on minimal donations and adoption fees to pick up the tab of paying for the service they offer.

None of us want to see a healthy, or re habitable, animal have to be put down just because no one wanted him/her. In reality it isn't that no one wanted the animal it is that those that did probably couldn't afford the adoption fee.

I can remember when you wanted a pure bred dog that you paid $200+ depending on the breed. And if you wanted a "mutt" it was pretty much free, at the most there was a $50 charge. Now with vet bills and the price of spaying and neutering the price to adopt a dog and save it from death row is outrageous some are close to $500 by the time you get the items you will need at home (food, dishes, toys, treats, leash, collar, soap, bed, etc) and pay the adoption fee.

Just think how great it would be for these rescue places to be able to adopt out an animal for under $50 and be able to give the new owner a voucher to the pet store for needed items as well. And for that rescue organization not to have to worry about where the money was coming from to help the next animal on top of that.

Just my thought for the morning. With the economy the way it is I fear many of our furry friends are loosing their life because of the lack of money more than anything else. Personally I would rather spend $300 housing, feeding, and caring for an animal than to spend to just get the animal. I know, I know that money goes back to help do all those things for another animal but you know what I am saying.

Seriously, how is it, why is it that several have millions of dollars and yet our organizations that help defenseless animals still struggle to make ends meet? It isn't like you can look at Fluffy, Rover, or Spot and say just get a job.

Ok I will hush now.

So many Ideas

I had many ideas for a title tonight, but unfortunately I didn't get pictures that would relate to what the title reffered to and also it is rather a family oriented blog.

Christmas, the neighbor dog, was lovin on the the flower pot across the street this evening. It was kind of funny. We had several one liners floatin around here in regards to it.

While fixing dinner the boys were hangin out in the kitchen so I gave em both a few water chestnuts. Learned something new about Spock. He is actually quite the athlete. He will catch food, especially water chestnuts...lol. He also did it with some treats but not as good. Max will catch a tennis ball...sometimes, usually when Alicia is the one throwing it and we are outside, and now Spock catches food. Everyday is something new.

We went out after dinner and let the boys enjoy the weather. Christmas came over and Max and he actually had a really good time playing. There was much less "lovin" today. Poor Spock got stepped on, or jumped on once when Max was bounding around. He is ok, I am sure it hurt at first though.

After they were done playing Max and I went for a walk around the block. Just Max and I tonight. Spock wasn't going after last nights joyful excursion. And evidently Max finally wore out Christmas cause he didn't follow along tonight. Took us about 20 minutes...give or take, I didnt look what time it was when we left and the program I was using to time us messed up during the walk so...

Max's tummy has itchy spots so I put his collar back on him to see if it is from the harness.

Laters...

New Look and Walking

Well as you can see the blog has a new look. I have been working on it for a few days and for the moment I think I am happy with it. I would love to hear your feedback.

I took Max for a walk around the block, about a half mile, last night and he did really well. It was good exercise for both of us. Spock slept while we were gone.

Tonight, I decided since Spock seemed to sleep most of the day I would take him with Max and I when we went for a walk around the block. Well maybe I should have thought a little more about that. Keeping up with the two of them was not the joy I was hoping for. I had to make sure the two of them were out of the road when a car came, every time we passed something pee worthy one or the other had to pee on it, and I had to watch both to see if I had to do any scoopin. Poor Spock was absolutely wiped by the time we got back. I think from now on it will just be me and Max, unless someone else walks with me.

Of course we weren't alone either night, Christmas joined us both nights. Once we get used to the  1/2 mile we will move up to a mile. Hey maybe I will actually lose some weight...hahaha.

Ever Seen an 80lb Lap Dog?

Well I was gonna blog the other day, I had like 3 different things to write about. However, here it is three days since my last post and I haven't a clue what I those things, I was thinking about putting up here, were. I am such a creature of procrastination. If ya don't do it when you are thinking about it, it just doesn't get done; at least in my case.

I have a couple videos on the phone that I will post when I get them pulled off, if they are worth watching. Often the camera on the phone has dark videos when taken in the front room.

This morning Spock was layin around having a lazy Sunday morning, Max on the other hand was bein his crazy, playful self. We played fetch, we played tug o war, and we wrestled. Once he was finally wore out, or at least when I was, it was time to chill. Spock came over and snuggled up on me and the laptop and Max, well he decided he too was a lapdog and was going to use Gary's lap to prove it. He is a determined guy, cause he did indeed make himself a lapdog. I am just glad Gary was the one he chose to prove it with and not me.

I got pics this morning to share the experience with you.

That's it daddy, right there.

Oh yeah, now there.

Daddy...you quit, oh you started again.

Told you I would get up here, now start scratchin again.

Lapdog on the laptop.

I reckon I wasn't gonna type anyway.

And Max has wedged himself into the chair with Gary, pretty sure Gary just got slobbered in this pic, thus the look.

Don't ya love it when you snap a pic and the other person's eyes are in mid  movement. HA!  I told him this looks like Awwwww! I am pretty sure it was him in the middle of rolling his eyes cause he just got slobbered...lol.

This and the next are my two faves of the day. Who says an 80lb boxer can't be a lapdog?

Max is not spoiled...not much anyway. =O)

No post since Saturday...Wow

Has it really been three days? Well I reckon we should get used to it cause I knew all along I couldn't write everyday. I get to busy with other stuff and lets face it, my life even with the dogs isn't that interesting.

We did baths again tonight, Max just got his ears and the two spots on his back washed. Spock had a total bath. He at least is smellin better. Seem to be keeping the yeasty smell away with a bath every three days, the bottle says 3 - 4 times a week for two weeks then once a week so we will see.

Max and Christmas seem to be getting along better. They did argue over a bone earlier but seemed more bark than bite and didn't take but a second of me raising my voice to end it. I still don't know that I would leave them alone together without the leash. Definetely makes me think twice about going to the dog park, that is for sure.

I got some decent pics of Christmas tonight, so you can really see what this fuzzy lil lover looks like. I also have a shot of Spock, aka lil man, layin in the chair after his bath. There is also one of Spock when I took the blankets out of the crate...he didn't want me to wash them obviously.

Hope ya all have a great night.
